What she did tonight is an act of business savvy and calculation like nothing we’ve seen since Thriller and MJ’s middle years (arguably the whole of his solo career in general, but that’s another post).
When I say she reinvented Star Power, I mean it in the most literal and technical sense. This was an act of machination that just…
Like, I don’t think you understand how much money had to be put out upfront (14 music videos, that alone, even conservatively is in the neighborhood of 14 Million that was fronted by her and/or the label on the hope that purchases would justify it).
This was a huuuuuuuge gamble and that cannot be understated. I don’t care how popular someone is. To pull this off with zero leaks, zero warning, zero promotion?
That is fucking knowing your market. That is knowing your fanbase. That is knowing every single fucking variable.
And then saying Fuck it.
That’s More Power, Scotty.
That’s a fucking Flux Capacitor.
Beyoncé has made history, and I mean it with every fiber of my being that everyone in the industry will be analyzing what she pulled off.
I’ve heard a lot of people use the defence that Honey Boo Boo has been exploited by her own family, or that by being on reality TV she has opened herself up to the criticisms and pressures of celebrity - fact stands that Alana has been so embraced, her red neck family has graced the gif sets of countless sassy reactions that speak to all of our inner pageant queens - but when you really look at the screen cap of an 8 year old girl holding her bare stomach, captioned to be a negative reaction to the Victoria Secret fashion show, how can you say that she - from her family’s indiscretions with reality TV - deserves it? What were the 71.7K users thinking when they saw that image? If it had been their sister, their daughter, their best friend - would they allow mass social media to manipulate images of an 8 year old girl, a child, to express their physical insecurities after having watched over-sexualised lingerie models?
It is the objectification of a child at the hands of social media as a response to commercial media.
It is so wrong.
Humour is an incredibly powerful tool, especially when it generates empathy from situations that are highly relatable. But there is nothing, absolutely nothing quite as abhorrent as exploiting young women’s bodies for laughs, and the thoughtless perpetuation of an online environment that’s numbing us to our dehumanisation.
girl scouts are letting in trans* girls and letting girls replace God with whatever they want in the pledge, also they use cookie income to support abortion and LGBT agendas
boy scouts are just now allowing gays in, officially in january, but gay leaders are still banned and they’re talking about segregation on camping trips, with gays and straights in different tents. also they still ban atheists,
girl scouts: 10000 boy scouts: 0
“Every time someone says we don’t need feminism anymore, things like this come to mind. Due to insufficient dowry this young girl’s husband lacerated her face with a razor blade.” (Gwalior - India) - ph. Adrian Fisk
Well diddly ding dam who knew that you could still be a good parent by turning your child’s accomplishments into analogies as to why they fail to grasp reality and aren’t enough to function on their own? Oh wait lol u cant
